Roadburn is very proud to report that New York’s legendary and recently resurrected SWANS have been confirmed as the headliner at Roadburn Festival 2011. Featuring band members Michael Gira (original SWANS), Norman Westberg (original SWANS), Christoph Hahn (mid-period SWANS and most Angels of Light ), Phil Puleo (final SWANS tour and most of Angels of Light), Chris Pravdica (Flux Information Sciences / Services/ Gunga Din) and Thor Harris (Angels of Light, currently Shearwater), SWANS will headline Roadburn on Saturday, 16 April 2011. Roadburn festival is thrilled to unveil the curator for the 2011 edition of Roadburn: Sunn O))). The band, to be specific Greg Anderson and Stephen O’Malley, has agreed to curate our festival on Friday, April 15th, 2011 and host a special event. As curator, Sunn O))) will personally select the bands that will play during their special event as well as perform a headline show. Sunn O))) will be Roadburn’s fourth curator, following David Tibet in 2008, Neurosis in 2009 and Triptykon’s Tom Gabriel Warrior at this year’s festival. With the volcano a hazy memory and the post-Roadburn 2010 sleep deprivation dealt with, it’s time to start thinking about Roadburn 2011 (set for April 14 – 17 at the 013 venue and Midi Theatre, Tilburg, The Netherlands). Not just thinking, but doing! So what’s going on? Right now we are talking to our two chosen curators who will be hosting a special event on Friday, April 15th, 2011 at the festival’s 013 venue.
